Rosie is a senior Clydesdale mare that spent years as a carriage horse. She was dumped to slaughter when she was too old & emaciated to continue working. We rescued her in September 2022. A wonderful follower immediately fell in love with her & committed to her & all her needs whatever they may be. After her rehabilitation here, she headed to her forever retirement in Kansas with Kim in January 2023!
Archer is a Brabant draft horse we rescued in September 2020 from a Texas slaughter pen. He was used as a work horse up until he was dumped. He had a slight lameness from calcification around his front ligaments, but is doing well with orthopedic shoeing! He was adopted by the Harris' family shortly after his rehabilitation
Sea Biscuit was rescued off a dude ranch near Fort Davis, He was extremely emaciated & hot headed after serving the camp for 15 years. They dumped him at slaughter in October 2019 at age 22 where we rescued him. Biscuit had extreme food aggression & was extremely head shy & afraid of being beaten. He became one of the most trustworthy & loving horses we had. Jennie Rife, TeaCup's owner, fell in love with Biscuit from the start. She officially adopted him September 2020 to go live out the rest of his life with her & TeaCup!
Lucy is a 6 year old donkey rescued off of Craiglist. We intercepted her before she was sent to auction or taken by a kill buyer. She had never received any vet or farrier care prior to rescue. She is extremely sweet & was adopted by the Doggett family in December 2019!
Ghost was rescued from a dude ranch near Big Bend. He was extremely emaciated & served the camp for years & years. At age 23 they dumped him at slaughter in October 2019 where we rescued him. He has gained atleast 200 lbs since being in our care! Ghost is currently in a foster to adopt program with the Butts family!
Captain was rescued from a dude ranch near Big Bend in September 2019. He was extremely emaciated & headed to slaughter. He suffered extreme joint disease to both front fetlocks. With trial & error we were able to find an injection & medication to make him comfortable & sound! He will require maintenance for the remainder of his life. Captain is being fostered to adopt by the Doggett family!
Teacup was rescued with Belle from the Kaufman Kill Pen in February 2019! She was only a yearling upon rescue & was extremely emaciated, infested with lice & sick with respiratory illness. She blossomed into one of the fattest, sassiest little girls in the field! She was adopted by Jennie R. in Colorado in September 2019!
Belle was rescued as a 3 y/o from the Kaufman Kill Pen in February 2019! She was extremely well mannered & had previous reining training. She was adopted the day she was listed available by Caitlin G. in South Carolina!
Chance was rescued in January 2019 from the Kaufman Kill Pen. He is an 2009 model OTTB & raced until he was 8! Despite his long race career, he is extremely docile & well mannered. He was adopted by the Doggett family in August 2019!
Effie was rescued in January 2018 from a neglect case. She had gotten caught in barbed wire & was left for over a week with the wire embedded in her tendon. She was just a 6 year old & had never been handled. After months of care her leg healed. She was adopted to Courtney S. in Kentucky in September 2018! Sadly, months after her adoption Effie passed away overnight from causes unknown. We determined it could have been an aneurism or extremely rapid onset of colic.
Lady is a senior mare we rescued out of the Kaufman Kill Pen in November 2017. She is Texas Tech branded from their equine program. She was extremely emaciated, but fattened up quickly! She was adopted by the Cook family in June 2018!
Clyde was a Warmblood rescued out of the Kaufman Kill Pen as 16 year old in May 2017. He had extremely poor hooves & suffered from RAO. He was adopted out to the Fosters in West Texas in September 2018. The dry climate allows him to live a live without any respiratory issues!
Barbaro was Mama's colt. We saved them together from the Bastrop Kill Pen in March 2017. He now lives with her at his adopted home in West Texas.
Mama was a 10 year old mare rescued out of the Bastrop Kill Pen in March 2017 with her colt Barbaro. Mama was extremely aggressive upon arrival, but after some TLC she turned into one of the sweetest mares we have ever had! She was adopted out with her colt shortly after rescue to the Lokey family.
Tulip was rescued out of the Kaufman Kill Pen as a yearling filly in August 2016. She was dainty, sickly & injured. She has grown to be a beautiful, healthy young mare! She was adopted in March 2017 by the Schoenvogel family!
Lashes is a 10 year old mule rescued from the Kaufman Kill Pen in August 2016. She came with extreme trust issues & a very timid personality. She was adopted shortly after rescue by the Lokey family.
Boomer is a 16 hh 16 year old ex ranch horse gelding. He was our first slaughter rescue! We rescued him in May 2016 from the Bastrop Louisiana Kill Pen. He was extremely lame & sick. He was adopted by the Butt's family in September 2016!
