My name is Christina Hays, the owner & founder of Forever Freedom Reins. I started Forever Freedom Reins Equine Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization based out of Spring, TX while in college at Texas A&M when I stumbled upon two horses needing rescue. One was Mystery, the other Boomer. Boomer was my first slaughter rescue. He opened my eyes to horse slaughter & the brutality these horses endure! Since then it has been my mission to educate & spread awareness on the issues of horse slaughter & cruelty, the responsibilities & commitment of horse ownership, the over-population & over-breeding of horses & how it contributes to horse slaughter. All while saving as many horses as we can along the way! With donations we bail, rehabilitate & adopt out horses who wouldn't have had a chance otherwise. We specialize in major medical and hospice cases that would otherwise be euthanized or slaughtered. We have saved over 50 horses with your support & donations!
We save horses from auctions & neglect cases across the US, outbidding kill buyers & saving them from a brutal death in Mexico. We also take in owner surrenders from various situations!
Immediately after rescue, our horses are taken to our amazing equine veterinarian for a full examination & quarantine period. Our horses get any & all vetting they need from radiographs to surgeries. The care they receive is on level with professional equine athletes as we believe that is what they deserve.
After our horses are rehabilitated depending on their health, age & personality, they are adopted out into forever, loving homes or remain here with us as a sanctuary horse. Our adopters understand the neglect & trauma these horses have been put through. Adoptions are about giving a horse a second chance & loving them forever even past their years of service.
